Who doesn’t love a storybook ending? I’ve been fortunate enough to have had a few fairy tales play out in my life—and a couple of really momentous ones involve actual tails: tail-waggers, to be exact.

This week, we are delighted to introduce you to Happily Ever After, a new column about former shelter pets who have found their perfect family. These animals, previously abandoned and unloved, have been given a second lease on life—thanks to the determination of local animal welfare volunteers who’ve rescued them from their plight, as well as the families who consciously decide to seek them out at the local shelter.

While at times, I get sad and overwhelmed thinking about the countless shelter animals waiting to be picked, I think more about the happiness all around when someone decides to take home the newest member of their family.

Have I got a couple of fairy tails to tell you!
