Do you remember what it was like when you moved in to your neighborhood? I do. It was a perfect early autumn day; and as we drove past the row of houses that would soon become a familiar landscape, columns of stately oaks and maples seemed to form a receiving line that guided us into our waiting home.

One of the first things we did was to take a long walk. The leaves were just beginning to turn, and a delicate breeze flirted with the dangling shapes of yellow, orange, red and purple. I remember neighbors smiling, waving and saying hello—and soon after, even inviting us for a get-together. There was no doubt in our minds that we had found ‘home.’

As you peruse our latest Neighborhoods special section, you’ll meet families who feel the same way about their ‘nabe.’ It’s what makes each neighborhood special—how people feel about it and how that feeling translates into a love of the place we call home.
