FRIDAY, FEB. 24
DISTRICT CHAMPIONSHIP AT SLUH, 7 P.M.—Most expect top seed Webster Groves and No. 2 seed CBC in this game for the right to advance into the state tournament. The winner gets a very winnable sectional game in Farmington on Wednesday.
DISTRICT CHAMPIONSHIP AT MICDS, 8 P.M.—This district could go a lot of ways, but it wouldn’t be crazy to see No. 1 seed Westminster taking on either No. 2 seed University City or No. 3 seed MICDS for the district title. The winner of this district would more than likely end up taking on Soldan, which is chasing its third straight final four.
DISTRICT CHAMPIONSHIP AT PARKWAY SOUTH, 8 P.M.—This district is crazy! Parkway South is the No. 1 seed and Lafayette is No. 2. However, Summit is a dangerous No. 3 seed and No. 4 Eureka has to beat No. 5 Marquette just for the right to play the host Patriots. The winner of this district tournament will be battle-tested headed into sectionals.
DISTRICT CHAMPIONSHIP AT PARKWAY CENTRAL, 7 P.M.— De Smet is the top seed and a heavy favorite. But that doesn’t mean Parkway Central or Parkway North can’t make things interesting. Still, the Spartans should find their way into the sectional round.
DISTRICT CHAMPIONSHIP AT FOX, 7 P.M.—Top seed Vianney should advance from this tournament with flying colors. The Golden Griffins, recently crowed Metro Catholic Conference champs for the first time in school history, should receive little trouble getting out of this district.
DISTRICT CHAMPIONSHIP AT FOX, 5 P.M.—No. 1 seed Kirkwood has been waiting all year to get back into the state tournament and show last year’s game against Incarnate Word wasn’t indicative of just how good they are. Cor Jesu should provide a slight test for the Pioneers, but with Mizzou recruit Leanna Doty leading, it shouldn’t be tight for long.
DISTRICT CHAMPIONSHIP AT PARKWAY CENTRAL, 5:30 P.M.—Incarnate Word is the top seed, and while No. 2 seed Pattonville is an admirable foe, it would be stunning for the Red Knights not to advance.
DISTRICT CHAMPIONSHIP AT MICDS, 6 P.M.—This game should be the host and No. 2 seed MICDS Rams seeking their revenge against the No. 1 seeded Westminster Wildcats. Westminster was the only thing that stood between MICDS and a playoff run in last year’s district tournament.
SATURDAY, FEB. 25
DISTRICT CHAMPIONSHIP AT SLUH, 1 P.M.—Top seeded St. Joseph’s Academy should take on either No. 2 seed Nerinx Hall or No. 3 seed Ursuline for the right to head down to Farmington for a sectional round game.
WHITFIELD VS. HOWELL CENTRAL AT HARDEES ICEPLEX, 3:15 P.M.—After knocking off Parkway South and Fort Zumwalt West, Whitfield is in the Wickenheiser Cup semifinals with a shot at a championship. The Warriors will have their hands full with Howell Central team’s that allowed the fewest goals in its conference. The winner of this game heads to the Scottrade Center next week.
CBC VS. CHAMINADE AT HARDEES ICEPLEX, 6 P.M.—The perennial powerhouse Cadets are knocking on the door of another Challenge Cup final and the shot at another championship. With a win Saturday night, CBC will be back at the Scottrade Center for the 10th consecutive year.
SLUH VS. OAKVILLE AT HARDEES ICEPLEX, 8:30 P.M.—SLUH advanced to the semifinals only to lose the eventual champion the past two years. They were beaten by CBC, but they’ve already pinned a pair of losses on the Cadets this winter. If they can find their way past a scrappy Oakville program, SLUH will get its shot at the title.
