STATE SEMIFINALS, ALL CLASSES, AT MEADOR PARK IN SPRINGFIELD—Next year, these games will be held in the cozy confines of T.R. Hughes Ballpark in St. Charles. For now, though, the locals will have to slog their way down to the southwest corner of the state and take their shot at the title. There will be at least one local team in the final four and possibly three total. SLUH was slated to play Parkway North for a semifinal berth. Also expected to give their competition a stiff run are defending Class 3 champion Westminster, Lutheran South and Rockwood Summit. GIRLS’ SOCCER

STATE SEMIFINAL MATCHES, ALL CLASSES, AT BLUE SPRINGS AND BLUE SPRINGS SOUTH HIGH SCHOOL—The girls soccer championships make their first appearance outside the St. Louis Metropolitan area. Among those teams that were one win away from making a final four appearance were: John Burroughs, Principia, Visitation, Cor Jesu, Pattonville, St. Joseph’s Academy and Incarnate Word.
