FRIDAY, FEB. 17

BOYS’ BASKETBALL

VIANNEY AT CBC, 7 P.M.—The regular season finale for both teams, Vianney will have its eyes firmly set on locking up its first Metro Catholic Conference championship. Depending on how things shook out last week, CBC could have a shot at the title. Regardless, both teams will want to be playing their best basketball headed into the district tournaments this coming week.

PARKWAY NORTH AT UNIVERSITY CITY, 5:30 P.M.—While the Suburban South Conference title is more than likely headed to Webster Groves for the 11th straight season, that shouldn’t diminish this clash of conference foes. The Vikings are coming off one of their best seasons in recent history, while the Lions boast the reigning Player of the Year in Travon Williams. The drumline at U. City is always worth the price of admission.

SATURDAY, FEB. 18

BOYS’ BASKETBALL

SCOTT COUNTY CENTRAL AT MAPLEWOOD-RICHMOND HEIGHTS, 2:30 P.M.—Scott County Central is a dynasty, having won the last three Class 1 state championships. Current Georgetown standout Otto Porter is their most recent alum to go on to bigger and better things. Watch the defending champs take on a Maplewood team eyeing its own playoff run.

WEDNESDAY, FEB. 22

BOYS’ BASKETBALL

WEBSTER GROVES VS. CHAMINADE/SLUH AT SLUH, 5 P.M.— The Class 5 District 2 tournament semifinals open with top-seeded Webster taking on the winner of Monday’s play-in game. The Statesmen have the best player in the district in standout point guard Rayshawn Simmons.

CBC VS. LADUE/ROOSEVELT AT SLUH, 7:30 P.M.—The second semifinal from the Class 5 District 2 tournament features a young CBC team trying to find the mojo it had when it raced to the Meramec Tournament finals back in December. The Cadets will likely have to deal with Ladue’s sophomore standout Cornell Johnston, who’s been tagged the best young point guard in town.

DE SMET VS. HAZELWOOD WEST/PATTONVILLE AT PARKWAY CENTRAL AT 5:30 P.M.—The first semifinal from the Class 5 District 4 tournament features De Smet in its first postseason game. The Spartans have been on a bit of a hot streak lately coming off a big win over Hazlewood Central two weeks ago.

PARKWAY NORTH VS. PARKWAY CENTRAL/RITENOUR AT PARKWAY CENTRAL, 7 P.M.—The second semifinal of the Class 5 District 4 tournament includes Parkway North, which, as we mentioned above, has put together an outstanding season. But the Vikings will more than likely have to tussle with rival Parkway Central at home. The Colts have already beaten the Vikings once this season.

CLASS 4 DISTRICT 6 SEMIFINALS AT MICDS, TBD—District includes MICDS, Clayton, Priory, University City and Westminster.

GIRLS’ BASKETBALL

CLASS 4 DISTRICT 6 SEMIFINALS AT MICDS, TBD—District includes MICDS, Clayton, Villa Duchesne, University City and Westminster.

THURSDAY, FEB. 23

ST. JOSEPH’S ACADEMY VS. WEBSTER GROVES/LADUE AT SLUH, 5 P.M.—The Class 5 District 2 tournament semis get underway with the Angels’ first postseason game. St. Joe will, barring anything unforeseen, have its hands full with a Webster Groves team that hung with them for a half earlier this season and will be playing with no pressure.

NERINX HALL VS. URSULINE/ROOSEVELT AT SLUH, 7:30 P.M.—The second semifinal of the Class 5 District 2 tournament features No. 2 seed Nerinx Hall, a bit of a surprise, taking on bitter rival Ursuline for the right to advance to the tournament finals.
