FRIDAY, DEC. 23

HOCKEY

HOWELL CENTRAL VS. CBC AT AFFTON ICE RINK, 7:45 P.M.—The rematch we’ve been waiting for finally arrives. Last season, Howell Central stunned everyone when it pinned a 7-1 win on the Cadets in the Challenge Cup final to win the championship. A year later these two programs are in different places. CBC appears to be among the elite once more but Howell Central has struggled in its early season games.

MONDAY, DEC. 26

BOYS’ BASKETBALL

OPENING GAMES OF THE MERAMEC HOLIDAY FESTIVAL TOURNAMENT, 4 P.M.—The best boys’ basketball tournament in town tips off its 34th season on the St. Louis Community College at Meramec. The tournament features heavy hitters McCluer, Vianney, Webster Groves, De Smet, Hazelwood Central, Marquette, Lafayette, CBC, Kirkwood and University City.

GIRLS’ BASKETBALL

VISITATION CHRISTMAS TOURNAMENT AT VISITATION, 1 P.M.— The best girls’ basketball tournament resumes after a week off with its second round of play. The consolation bracket tips off at 1 p.m., while the winner’s bracket gets underway at 4 p.m.

HOCKEY

LAFAYETTE VS. SLUH AT HARDEES ICE PLEX, 9:20 P.M.—The most impressive team to start the season has been the SLUH Junior Billikens. They’ll test themselves against a stout Lafayette team that opened its season by winning six of its first nine games.

TUESDAY, DEC. 27

BOYS’ BASKETBALL

MERAMEC HOLIDAY FESTIVAL TOURNAMENT, 4 P.M.—The second day of the tournament features two games in the consolation bracket and the second half of the first round.

GIRLS’ BASKETBALL

VISITATION CHRISTMAS TOURNAMENT, 6:30 P.M.—The semifinal round tips off at 6:30 p.m., with the other semifinal to follow at 8 p.m.

HOCKEY

MICDS VS. WESTMINSTER AT HARDEES ICE PLEX, 9 P.M.—This matchup pits two of the best smaller schools in the Mid-States Club Hockey Association. MICDS is led by Jackson Myer and Charles Combs. Westminster has been getting plenty of points from standouts John Moeller and Tate Matheny.

WEDNESDAY DEC. 28

BOYS’ BASKETBALL MERAMEC HOLIDAY FESTIVAL TOURNAMENT, 4 P.M.—The quarterfinal round tips off.

GIRLS’ BASKETBALL

VISITATION CHRISTMAS TOURNAMENT, 8:30 P.M.—The title game of the best girls tournament in town should feature at least one team that will make its way to Columbia and the final four in March.

FRIDAY, DEC. 30

BOYS’ BASKETBALL

MERAMEC HOLIDAY FESTIVAL TOURNAMENT, 7 P.M.—The championship game is scheduled to be played tonight. It should be one heck of a game—a great way to spend a night in the gym.
