Golfers tee off with a gorgeous view at The Club at Porto Cima, where lush greens meet the sparkling waters of the Lake of the Ozarks.

Designed by golf great Jack Nicklaus, the nationally ranked 18-hole course at Sunrise Beach is a rarity for the region. “Nicklaus designed the course himself and was on-site throughout its construction,” notes Beth Irsik, director of membership. “He loved the area and was happy to come down and spend his time and talent here.” The design is friendly enough to introduce the whole family to the game, but also difficult enough to challenge seasoned players, Irsik explains.

Translated ‘hillside by the harbor,’ Porto Cima is a Mediterranean-themed golf and boat community created to capture the natural beauty of the region, with multiple holes positioned on the water. “The views are great,” Irsik says. “And the best view of all is our signature hole 15, which extends out into the main channel, so golfers are surrounded by water as they play.”

Membership at the elaborate lakefront private club boasts a long list of amenities, from the clubhouse, yacht club and marina slips to a spa, fitness center and practice facility. The clubhouse includes a golf shop, indoor dining and an outdoor dining terrace overlooking the 18th hole, while the yacht club offers a swimming pool, tennis courts and a tiki bar. Privileges also extend to The Lodge of the Four Seasons, as well as 36 additional holes of golf at sister courses The Cove and The Ridge in nearby Osage Beach.

The luxurious club also plays host to member events, such as holiday celebrations and wine tastings, as well as weddings and charity tournaments. Members also can take lessons or play with the pro, director of golf Jon Crane. “We have a very hands-on staff,” Irsik notes. “And they take outstanding care of the course.”

The club’s superior service and stunning location are unique for the Midwest, Irsik says. “It is so gorgeous that people from all over the country look to come here and play.”
