> Who says the only good Italian food is on The Hill? PEPPE PROFETA, last of Trattoria Branica, will bow his new venture, Pepe’s Apt. 2, April 15 at 800 S. Geyer in Kirkwood, the space most recently home to Apartment 2. The eatery will serve classic Italian and Mediterranean cuisine, and Peppe says the menu features an abundance of small plates. Another local legend of Italian food, CHARLIE GITTO, will open his third Charlie Gitto’s Restaurant, this one in Chesterfield in the space Uno Chicago Grill formerly occupied. If all goes well, look for a July opening, says Gitto, and some interesting twists to the menu (mum’s the word for now). Bravissimo!
