> It’s official: Copia Urban Winery & Market is open again for business after more than two years. The wine bar, located at 1122 Washington Avenue, opens to the public today, but we saw the rehabbed space at the grand opening party June 17. The results are truly impressive. Check it out, esepcially the retractable roof over the patio!
> Congrats to CHARLIE MYERS from McGurk’s Public House in O’Fallon, Mo., who took top honors at the Bombay Sapphire GQ Mixologist Competition June 8 at Bar Napoli in Clayton. His gin-based concoction, aptly named Naturally Sapphire, was the winning mix. Next stop, Las Vegas, for another round of drinks, er, competition. Good luck, Charlie!
> And while we’re handing out accolades, here’s to Chef THOM ZOOG of Portabella Restaurant & Catering, who competed in the 21st Annual National Taste of Elegance June 14 at Renaissance Harborplace Hotel in Baltimore and made it to the final round of six before elimination. The contest, sponsored by America’s Pork Producers, brings chefs from around the nation together to face-off with their best porcine offerings.
