> New Deveopments: Primebar at West County Center is now open. The restaurant features American cuisine, plus an extensive wine list, hand-crafted cocktails and 40 beers on tap. We’re looking forward to chowing one of their ‘Two-Handed Sandwiches’ at their outdoor patio when it opens in April…BRAD BERACHA has completed renovations to Miso on Meramec. The 800-square-foot, street-level expansion features a six-seat sushi bar, 34-seat dining room, and additional patio seating. Miso also now offers Monday hours and lunch.

> Big names, big numbers: Celeb chef LIDIA BASTIANICH was recently at the Des Peres Schnucks and Williams-Sonoma at Plaza Frontenac signing her book, Lidia Cooks from the Heart of Italy…BUDDY VALASTRO of TLC’s Cake Boss came to town to celebrate the opening of River City Casino. Valastro unveiled a cake featuring numerous St. Louis landmarks, including the Arch, Busch Stadium, the Fox Theatre and the St. Louis Zoo. The cake, which weighed 700 pounds, measured 96 by 42 inches and was designed to feed 1,500 people. It will be featured in an episode of Cake Boss this summer…Deer meat donations to food pantries have been on the rise the last few years, but when Operation Food Search partnered with the Missouri Department of Conservation’s Share the Harvest Program this season, they didn’t expect a whopping 15,000 pounds of fresh deer meat! The meat was processed and packaged for free, and distributed.

> Wine & spirits time: Chesterfield resident Ron Roy’s wine company, Wines That Rock, is jammin’ these days. The wine hails from Mendocino County, Calif., and bottle labels feature iconic rock ‘n roll album covers. Launched this past November, Wines That Rock is already carried in more than 100 stores and restaurants in St. Louis and has garnered coverage on national TV and in Wine Spectator…The Vino Gallery has opened on the ‘gallery row’ block of McPherson in the CWE…Balaban’s Wine Cellar & Tapas Bar recently engaged St. Louis native AARON ZWICKER as wine manager of the new Chesterfield establishment. Zwicker comes to Balaban’s after 10 years as a wine retail buyer and wholesale sales representative…Six area bartenders will be competing in the Iron Bartender Contest March 28 at Flamingo Bowl.
