> Chris Sommers, owner of Pi in the U.City Loop, has announced plans to open a LEED-certified bar in November at 408 N. Euclid Ave., most recently home to Posh. Hometown boy Sommers has enlisted the help of H. Joseph Ehrmann, owner of Elixir in San Francisco, to create the cocktail menu. “We’ll be doing a lot of things with local ingredients,” Sommers promises. “And we’ll be following the trend toward classic cocktails while keeping a focus on green, local and organic.” He plans to call the bar Pi Bar, Liquid Pi or some other spin on the name of his popular pizzeria. Sommers also is negotiating a lease nearby to house a third Pi!

> The popular Japanese restaurant Momoyama’s, in Chesterfield, has named a new top chef, sushi expert Tai, who hails from Ft. Lauderdale. Chef Tai continues Momoyama’s tradition of creative sushi and sashimi, with all sauces made daily in-house and fish delivered several times a day.

> Stone Hill Winery has again earned the state’s most coveted wine award, the Governor’s Cup. Presented to the Missouri vintner who wins ‘Best of Show’ at the Missouri Wine Competition, the award was given to Stone Hill’s 2007 Cross J Vineyard Norton, which defeated 11 other Best of Class wines eligible for the honor. Congratulations, again. Stone Hill has taken the honor six times in the award’s 16-year history!

> Mai Lee Restaurant, the popular Vietnamese/Chinese restaurant at 8440 Delmar, will relocate by next February to the Eager/Hanley/Highway 40 complex, specifically into the space just under the Metro Link park ‘n ride lot on ‘the Dale Avenue extension.’ Owner Qui Tran says the new digs will have double the seating capacity, plus bar and patio.

> In case you haven’t noticed, Cardwell’s at the Plaza has introduced a ‘couples menu’ on weeknights (Sunday through Thursday): Two Dine for $49. Diners can choose from a pretty nice selection of starters, entrees and sweets for a gourmet, three-course meal.

> Greg Stevens’ The Wine Press at 4436 Olive St. celebrated its one-year anniversary Aug. 7. The place serves delicious small plates such as bruschetta, stuffed portobello mushrooms and its signature, artichoke hearts and Asiago cheese.

> Atlas restaurant is hosting a special ‘Farmers’ Dinner’ on Aug. 31 that will combine the skills of husband/wife team Michael Roberts and Jean Donnelly with the terrific produce of Berger Bluff Farm.

> Di Olivas Oil & Vinegar is now open on the upper level in West County Center. The taste ‘emporium’ offers 20 different extra-virgin olive oils, in addition to balsamic vinegars, 22 flavors of Rossi pasta, 28 sea salts, and sauces, dips and stuffed olives.

> VegaDeli in Chesterfield is now offering cooking classes. Next up is Organic Raw Food Aug. 16 and Organic Cooking Aug. 17.
