Shannon Parker, originally from Bellevue, Neb., has called Brentwood home since 1994. She is a technical writer with Trustforte Corporation; and her kids, Lucy Bloomstran, 11, and Reid Bloomstran, 9, attend Wilson School. We spoke with Shannon about what she and her family love most about living in Brentwood.

What’s the best-kept secret in Brentwood?

We have an awesome public library, and we love to walk or ride bikes there in the summer.

What are your favorite gathering spots in your neighborhood?

We have been known to head to Carl’s Drive In on occasion…OK, more than on occasion!

What’s your family’s favorite neighborhood tradition?

Every Thanksgiving, we drive through Winter Wonderland in Tilles Park.

What do you like best about living in Brentwood?

Brentwood is like a small town in a big city. I like that I know my neighbors and that my kids can play outside. My daughter was walking our ancient dog a few weeks ago when a lady stopped her and said something like: I used to watch your mom push you in the baby stroller and walk your dog. Now I can watch you do the same thing. It made me very happy!

Neighborhood Notes

Katie McLaughlin, Laura McCarthy

Brentwood is not only centrally located, it also is one of the most neighborly and sought-after communities to live in St. Louis. The proximity to Clayton is convenient because of all the shops, businesses and restaurants, and its strong market helps increase Brentwood’s property values. I not only sell many homes in Brentwood, but I have personally lived there—it’s a wonderful place to call home.
