Get your appetites ready, because next week is the ninth annual Downtown Restaurant Week in the Lou. From Monday, Aug. 19, through Sunday, Aug. 25, enjoy a special three-course menu for $25 at 27 different eating and drinking establishments in the heart of the city. Get the whole rundown of participating venues at downtownrestaurantweek.net.

According to thrillist.com, there are 33 truly great pizzas in the US, and Pastaria's Brussel Sprout Pizza, featuring the eponymous veggie along with lemon, mozzarella, lardo and bechemel, is one of them. Congrats! Another of GERARD CRAFT's eateries was also recently honored at the national level. Brasserie By Niche was recognized by Travel+Leisure as one of the best French restaurants in the country.

The Bourbon Review has named Sanctuaria Wild Tapas as one of the Top 55 Best Bourbon Bars in America, one of only two Missouri establishments that made the cut. Cheers to that! In other Sanctuaria news, bar manager and mixologist MATT SEITER has announced he's leaving the Grove favorite to focus on his impending fatherhood, as well as his burgeoning writing career. We wish him all the best!

Stone Hill Winery in Hermann, Mo., took the hat trick at the 2013 Missouri Wine Competition. The winery's 2011 Estate Bottled Norton earned Best of Class Dry Red, the C.V. Riley Award and the prestigious Governor's Cup for best wine of the year. It's the first time a winery has won the C.V. Riley Award and the Governor's Cup in the same year. Well done! In other vino-centric news, kudos to Balaban's Wine Cellar & Tapas Bar, Truffles, Gerard's Restaurant and Annie Gunn's for winning the 2013 Best Of Award of Excellence from Wine Spectator.

Some of the area's top chefs will be heading to Mount Pleasant Estates in Augusta next month for the 2013 Chefs Wine Country Barbecue. The event is a fundraiser put on by the American Culinary Federation (ACF) Chefs de Cuisine Association of St. Louis. This year's event takes place Sunday, Sept. 15. Tickets are $50 per person ($55 for reserved seating). Make your reservations by calling 636-482-9463.

Need a low-buck last-minute plan for this weekend? On Sunday, Aug. 18, Highway 61 Roadhouse in Webster Groves will be screening that Patrick Swayze fan favorite, Roadhouse, at 8 p.m. No cover charge to attend, and full kitchen and bar service will be available during the flick.
