Yet another food truck is opening a permanent location. We’ve been told Seoul Taco has signed a lease for a space at 571 Mehlville Ave. in the U. City Loop, the former home of Gyros In The Loop. While some truck operations are speeding up, others are pulling over and parking. Pi Pizzeria has announced it will no longer be operating its food trucks in St. Louis and Washington, D.C. The mobile eateries still will be making limited appearances at events and still will be part of Pi’s catering operations. According to a statement, the restaurant wants to focus on its brick-and-mortar operations.

The Ritz-Carlton, St. Louis is offering a cooking class titled ‘Back to School—Modern Day Lunch Bag,’ on Saturday, Aug. 25, from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Members of the Ritz’ culinary team will provide preparation tips and recipes for healthy and tasty alternatives to the typical school sack lunch. Class participants will prepare a lunch, which they will enjoy (with wine) in The Grill following the class. The cost of the class is $79 per person, which includes coffee and a continental breakfast. Space is limited to 25 guests. To make reservations for the class, call 719-1433.

A new local brewery has popped up on the scene, sort of anyway. Local businessman JOHN BEAL of John Beal Roofing fame, has launched American Patriot and American Patriot Light. These American lagers actually are brewed at the G. Heileman Brewing Company in LaCrosse, Wis. Beal started the venture in response to the InBev purchase of Anheuser-Busch in 2008. The new brews’ slogan: ‘Taking America Back, One Beer At A Time.’ Look for the beers in cans and bottles at area Schnucks, Dierbergs and Shop N’ Save stores, with more venues to come.

Happy Birthday to Blueberry Hill! The U. City Loop landmark turns 40 on Sept. 8. Check the restaurant’s Facebook page for 40 days of events, specials, contests and more as the countdown to the birthday celebration proceeds.

Mount Pleasant Estates in Augusta, Mo., will be hosting three more of its popular Saturday Dinners On The Deck, on Sept. 8, Oct. 6 and Oct. 13. The dinners begin at 7 p.m. and include a three-course prix fixe menu paired with Mount Pleasant wines and served on the winery’s Appellation Cafe deck, with its impressive view of the Missouri River Valley. The cost is $26.99 per person, and seating is limited to 30 people per dinner. Call 636-482-WINE (9463) to make reservations.
