◆Following up on the recent release of their new cookbook, Stone Soup Cottage: A Vignette of Seasonal Recipes, CARL and NANCY MCCONNELL will be hosting a series of cooking classes at their Cottleville, Mo., eatery of the same name. The classes will be held weekly during November and December, and focus on demonstrating a three-course tasting menu and wine pairing. The cost is $45 per person and class size is limited to 20, and like the cookbook, some of the proceeds from the classes will go to the Boys and Girls Clubs of St. Charles County. View the full class schedule at stonesoupcottage.com.

◆ We’ve reported recently about some of the kitchen changes at Robust Wine Bar & Cafe, and now it looks like those changes are extending to the bar. The restaurant is now stocking spirits from the Spirits of St. Louis line from Square One Brewery & Distillery and is in the process of developing a cocktail menu, according to general manager FRANK ROMANO. Robust has hired mixologist and sommelier LAUREN BLAKE, who was a top 10 finalist in the 2009 Bombay Sapphire Most Inspired Bartenders competition, to handle the cocktail program.

◆ The Wine & Cheese Place has announced an original series of collaboration beers with several of the top breweries in the area. St. Louis Brewery, Perennial Artisan Ales, 4 Hands Brewing Company and 2nd Shift Brewing Company. The breweries will be aging some of their production beers in a variety of used bourbon barrels. The results will be available at all four locations of The Wine & Cheese Place. We’re told the first release, Schalfly Quadrupel aged in a Buffalo Trace barrel, has been aging since early August and should be ready in another month or two.

◆Speaking of Perennial Artisan Ales, in addition to the recent opening of its tasting room and the appearance of its beers on tap around town, the brewery also is celebrating the first round of its brews in bottles, now at Local Harvest, The Wine & Cheese Place, Salt, Farmhaus and Sanctuaria, with more to come soon.

◆ Fans of Companion’s Bavarian pretzels rejoice! The company has started selling a Honey Mustard Pretzel Dipping Sauce at its two cafes in Clayton and Ladue, the Early Bird Outlet and all area Dierbergs stores. Take our word for it, it’s a great pairing!

◆CHEF NATE BONNER, who most recently was a chef instructor at Schnucks Markets’ Des Peres Cooking School, has debuted a new project, Chef Nate’s Table, located at the AUTCOHome showroom in Westport. Bonner will be offering cooking classes, as well as providing private dining experiences.

◆ One of our local food trucks is now sporting a new name. Mangia Mobile is now officially Sicily Streat. Follow them at facebook.com/sicilystreat or on Twitter, @SICILYSTREAT.
