With executive producer James Cameron’s plotless 3D technology experiment about an escape from a giant cave system the only other major opening (no pun intended), I thought I should try something else. Let’s take a look at some films you might want to add to your Netflix queue.

Conviction

Hilary Swank and Sam Rockwell are the best part of this mildly inspirational tale of a woman who puts herself through college and law school to appeal her brother’s wrongful murder conviction.

Never Let Me Go

This film was so poorly marketed—and way over-hyped—that audiences couldn’t help but be disappointed. Nevertheless, I find myself still thinking about genetically engineered children created strictly for the purpose of organ donors for actual ‘people.’

Red

This movie proves what a great cast can do for an action movie. You can’t help but enjoy yourself watching the retired group of black ops specialists try to figure out whose trying to kill them and why. Plus 94-year-old Ernest Borgnine has a cameo.

Secretariat

It’s the best family movie of the year, and the best part is the little ones don’t know how it turns out.

The Social Network

This obscure film about the creation of Facebook—ha ha—received eight Oscar nominations and won the Golden Globe for Best Drama. What it lacks in heart it makes up for in intelligence and talent.

Man on Wire

It’s not new, but this Oscar-winning documentary about the French performer who tightrope walked between the World Trade Center towers is riveting. LN
