There are some great rental options out right now if you’re not in the mood to fight the crowds at the Cineplex. Here’s what I recommend:
We Bought a Zoo
The title successfully sums it up. This is a touching family film about a single dad (Matt Damon) who decides his family needs a fresh start. The film also stars Scarlett Johansson and Thomas Haden Church.
This is Steven Spielberg’s sweeping World War I epic about a boy and his beloved horse. The horse is commandeered for the war effort and the animal must survive the battles and the journey home to reunite with his beloved master.
Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close
Underrated in its theatrical release, this heart-warming film tells the story of a young boy’s search for meaning after his father is killed in the 9-11 attacks.
A Dangerous Method
This film is a bizarre tale of the friendship/ rivalry of Sigmund Freud and Carl Jung, as well as the unconventional—not to mention, unethical—sexual relationship Jung has with a patient.
My Week with Marilyn
Michelle Williams almost took home an Oscar for her brilliant portrayal of the icon. This film tells the brief story of Marilyn’s friendship with a production assistant while in London filming The Prince and the Showgirl.
