If you are more in the mood to stay home and download a movie or update your Netflix queue, here are some ideas:

Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows

Hardly a mind-blowing sequel, but Robert Downey Jr. and Jude Law do a tremendous job of keeping the audience entertained with their hijinx. In this follow-up, the evil genius Moriarty emerges to challenge the smartest man in the room.

Mission Impossible: Ghost Protocol

Tom Cruise is back with a mission: When the IMF force is implicated in a terrorist bombing, Ethan Hunt is forced to go dark with a rogue team of agents to clear his name. It’s just good popcorn stuff.

John Carter

Let the action continue. In this wildly underrated sci-fi adventure, John Carter is a Civil War veteran who is mysteriously transported to Mars where he must face another conflict. The film is based on the writing of Edgar Rice Burroughs and I found the film rewarding—if not gripping.

Safe House

It seems to be action week the DVD release world. Here, Denzel Washington and Ryan Reynolds star in a who-do-you-trust government conspiracy thriller. Washington plays a rogue government agent who re-emerges onto the scene after a high-level assassination is uncovered.
