February is finally here, which means Oscar season is finally here. Nevertheless, the hangover of the January curse still lingers. So I have compiled a list of dos and don’ts, if you are so inclined to head to the theater in the next couple of weeks. These are the dos.
Lincoln
Yes, it moves at a glacial pace, but it may very well be the role of Daniel Day-Lewis’ career. And it’s not just Day-Lewis, the acting all around is Oscar-worthy.
Argo
Ben Affleck directs and stars in this incredible film about a group of government operatives posing as a film crew in a risky attempt to extract a group of Americans trapped in Iran during the hostage crisis.
The Impossible
This has to be the feel-good movie of the year. Naomi Watts and Ewan McGregor star as parents of three young boys who are separated when the tsunami hits Thailand.
Warm Bodies
It’s a zombie romantic comedy. What more can I say?
Silver Linings Playbook
I still think this movie is over-rated. It is, nevertheless, a very charming and well-acted romantic comedy.
Les Miserables
Victor Hugo would be proud.
Django Unchained
If anyone can make vicious, disturbing violence not just entertaining but funny, it’s Quentin Tarantino.
