second friday notes continues with poetsTravis Mossotti and Mary Feagan and

featuring the music of singer/songwriter, Jordan Kylie Bitticks on December 14,  at 7 pm at Whole Foods Market in Town and Country (at Clayton Road and Woods Mill Road, 63017).  The reading, which is sponsored by Whole Food Markets, is free and open to the public. 

Travis Mossotti was awarded the 2011 May Swenson Poetry Award by contest judge Garrison Keillor for his first collection of poems, About the Dead (USU Press, 2011). A new collection of his poems titled My Life as an Island was selected as winner of the Blue Moon Chapbook competition and is forthcoming with Moon City Press in January, 2013. 

Mary Feagan grew up in University City, became a Catholic nun, attended Fontbonne U. and the University of Kansas. As a  nun she taught high school English in Atlanta, and when she left the convent she returned there.  She received a masters in art at Georgia State, then lived and taught art in Atlanta until she returned home to St. Louis in 2011.

      The St. Louis Poetry Center, still thriving after more than sixty years of serving those who love and write poetry, is the oldest center of its kind west of the Mississippi River. In addition to its other reading series, “Poetry at the Point” at the Focal Point and the Observable Readings at Schlafly Bottleworks, both in Maplewood, the center hosts free monthly Sunday Workshop/Critiques at the University City Library.  The center also conducts contests, publishes a newsletter, and presents outreach programs in schools and prisons. ww.stlouispoetrycenter.org.
