Theodore Roosevelt, our 26th president, turned himself from a sickly, asthmatic child into a robust and powerful leader. He fought corruption, championed progressive reform, and led the cause of conservationism. Known for his dynamic and exuberant personality, he grew in stature after leaving office. Called bully by some and fearless by many, this towering figure is honored on Mount Rushmore and in the national memory.
