Don’t miss this tribute to the wonders of nature featuring stirring music performed by orchestra and soloists. Felix Mendelssohn’s Hebrides Overture was inspired by his visit to a cave off the coast of Scotland. Ludwig van Beethoven’s Pastorale Symphony contains five stunning movements inspired by nature. The concert also involves solos and quartet pieces from the choir’s section leaders; soprano Jackie Davis, alto Lori Hoffman, tenor Derek Dahlke, and bass Joshua Powlishta join conductor and pianist Andrew Peters and the orchestra in this special Earth Day homage.
Second Presbyterian Church is located at 4501 Westminster Place, Saint Louis, 63108 in the Central West End. The concert, part of the Couts Music Series, is free and open to all. For more information call 314-367-0367 or www.secondchurch.net.
