Kranzberg Artist Juan Chávez, Sylvester Brown, Jr., and Michael Allen

Juan William Chávez is Laumeier’s current Kranzberg exhibition artist and a cultural activist living in St. Louis. His studio practice focuses on the potential of space by developing creative initiatives that address community and cultural issues. He was awarded the John Simon Guggenheim Memorial Foundation Fellowship for Advanced Study Abroad and a grant from the Graham Foundation for Advanced Studies in the Fine Arts in 2012.

Sylvester Brown, Jr. is an award-winning journalist, former publisher of Take Five Magazine and metro columnist for the St. Louis Post-Dispatch. In January 2011, Brown established When we Dream Together, a nonprofit aimed at revitalizing long-ignored urban areas.
