Charcoal as a wet medium is not new, but it is a dry medium not fully explored as a wet medium. Artist Najjar Abdul-Musawwir (juror of the Summer Regional Exhibition) has been experimenting with this idea and practice for nine years in the context of studio practice, classroom investigations, and public workshops. This drawing technique is the results of experimenting with different forms of liquefaction of charcoal and abstract philosophy. It includes brushes, fluid elements, and charcoal in various forms.
Najjar will begin with a slide presentation of his drawings and paintings, followed by a question and answer session. He will then present an open forum drawing, with participation from the audience.
