BackStoppers Inc. supporters gathered for their Annual Membership Dinner at the Chase Park Plaza to honor the community’s fallen heroes who have died in the line of duty. Evening highlights included a bagpipe procession, a preview of the new BackStoppers TV ad, words from Cardinals broadcaster, John Rooney, and NFL Hall of Famer and CBS Sports Broadcaster, Dan Dierdorf, and the announcement of the new Challenge Campaign launched by David C. Pratt.
Longtime supporter of the BackStoppers, David C. Pratt generously offered to donate $1,000,000 under the condition that the organization matches the amount over the next 3 years. “The generosity of Mr. Pratt will help ensure the continued ability of our organization to care for the families of those who gave their lives in the line of duty while protecting our families and communities,” offered Chief Ron Battelle, BackStoppers Executive Director.
Though David and his wife Flora are Florida residents, he continues to be active in his hometown’s organizations through his current board involvement with Sisters of Mercy Health Systems, and as a past board member of St. Luke’s Hospital, Rossman School,
and John Burroughs School. Pratt is also an owner of the St. Louis Cardinals.
For fifty years, The BackStoppers have provided needed support and financial assistance to the spouses and children of all local and county police officers, firefighters, publicly-funded paramedics and EMTs, and volunteer fire protection units, who have lost their lives performing their duties.
